Transfer Credit

Southern Crescent Technical College accepts transfer credits for degree-level coursework from any college or university accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Transfer credit is considered on a case-by-case basis for coursework from non-regionally accredited institutions.

*Credits from Sophia’s Learning or Straigherline are not accepted. *

Credits from the University System of Georgia and private colleges accredited by The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges can be viewed on the TCSG-USG General Education Course Transfer Chart. This list is regularly updated. Students must complete at least 25% of their program credit hours at Southern Crescent Technical College to earn a diploma, degree, or certificate. This percentage excludes credits from transfer, military service, exemptions, experience, or articulation.

The college also awards credit through exams such as Advanced Placement (AP) and College-Level Examination Placement (CLEP).

Key Notes:

  • Final official transcripts are required from all postsecondary institutions. For a transcript to be considered final official, it should not have any classes in progress.
  • Programs with competitive admissions may have specific grade requirements.
  • Transfer credit is awarded for courses with comparable or higher content.
  • Transfer credit is not given for learning support courses (except for GA Technical Colleges).
  • Time limits may apply to some coursework.
  • No expiration
    • all general education/basic skills courses (ARTS, CHEM, ECON, EMPL, ENGL, HIST, MATH, MUSC, PHYS, PSYC, SOCI, SPCH); and courses used to satisfy elective credit requirements.
    • all ALHS, COMP, & BIOL Courses.

Please note that this audit guide is not definitive. Students are still required to submit all final official transcripts (no classes in progress) to the Registrar’s Office and must be accepted as a student at Southern Crescent Technical College for credits to be officially evaluated. Additionally, courses that do not meet the minimum grade requirement of a C or better, or that are not equivalent in content or credit hours, will not be accepted. The Transfer Credit Tool is provided as a reference to help students estimate which credits may transfer to Southern Crescent Technical College. This tool does not guarantee the acceptance or applicability of transfer credits. All transfer evaluations are subject to official review by the Registrar’s Office upon submission of final, official transcripts (no classes in progress). Transfer credit decisions are based on factors such as course equivalency, accreditation, minimum grade requirements, and program applicability. Courses that do not meet the minimum grade requirement of a “C” or better or that are not equivalent in content or credit hours will not be accepted. Students must be officially admitted to Southern Crescent Technical College and submit all required official transcripts for a formal evaluation. The Registrar’s Office is responsible for the final approval of transfer credits. Please allow 10 to 15 business days for the completion of the transfer credit evaluation.
